Every year, the focus of Halloween seems to shift more toward the interests of adults. Overall spending on the holiday this year is expected to total $6.9 billion in the U.S., with more money spent on costumes for adults and their pets ($1.5 billion) than Halloween outfits for kids ($950 million). Yet even as we increasingly turn our attention at this time of year to the likes of "sexy" meme costumes, at its heart Halloween remains a holiday dominated by kid-centric tradition of trick or treating. Which means, of course, free candy.
