The job search is never easy, especially for older people attempting to step back into their field. Money associate editor Susie Poppick sat down with financial expert Kerry Hannon to discuss ways to ease yourself back into the workplace.

Make sure your resume is an appropriate length. Potential employers rarely spend a tremendous amount of time reviewing your resume. So keep it short and concise. Only include past ten years of work experience, but make it count. Make sure you really highlight your achievements.

Be more flexible with your salary. Don't go in with unrealistic salary expectations. With time and patience, you can reach your desired salary.

Make the most out of your connections. Start networking, reach out to your connections, and see where that takes you. Take advantage of industry meetings and alumni organizations. Always keep an open mind.
