If you want to call the rolling hills of San Francisco home, or indeed anywhere close to them, get ready to shell out big bucks on your lodgings.
Median rent prices for one-bedroom flats as of March 2016 were higher here than anywhere else in the nation, topping $3,500 a month, according to a monthly report of over 1 million active listings across the United States complied by Zumper, a startup in the rental listings market.
Keeping it in good company were two neighboring cities: Oakland and San Jose, who rank as the fourth and fifth most expensive place to rent respectively.
Rounding out the top five were two East Coast offenders: New York and Boston.
