7 Money Quotes From the Vice Presidential Debate

Oct 04, 2016

Democratic candidate Tim Kaine and Republican candidate Mike Pence squared off Tuesday for the first, and only, vice presidential debate.

CBS News correspondent Elaine Quijano quizzed the two contenders for more than 90 minutes in an auditorium at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia.

Tuesday’s discussion focused heavily on foreign policy issues, but when Sen. Kaine and Gov. Pence turned their focus to domestic issues, they traded barbs over the presidential candidates’ positions on Social Security, income taxes, and the health of the overall economy.

Here are seven quotes from Tuesday’s debate that capture the flavor of the candidates' comments.
