Nothing undermines the thrill of securing an online deal like going to the checkout screen and seeing a shipping fee eating into your savings.
Or having to waste time scouring a website for something else to buy, in order to get your total over the minimum to qualify for free shipping.
A majority of retailers still charge you for the luxury of having your goods delivered to your doorstep, and some occasionally offer free shipping codes, but there are dozens of companies willing to cover the shipping costs no matter how little you spend — meaning the price you see is actually what you pay.
The catch: Many of these online retailers aren’t exactly discount or budget-friendly brands. “Companies do this to entice you to shop with them and, they hope, make you more loyal to them, says consumer psychologist Kit Yarrow, author of Decoding the New Consumer Mind.
In general, high-end stores are more likely to forgo shipping charges, although MONEY did uncover a couple of budget options as well. The following is a list of all the online retailers we could find that never charge you a shipping fee; where noted, they also offer free returns. (Are we missing any? Just remember it is always good to comparison shop before you hit that “buy” button — no matter how much you hate shipping fees. The retailer may be making up those mailing costs somewhere else.
Nordstrom: This high-end store sells everything from bedding to designer shoes. It offers free shipping and free returns to anywhere in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
Barneys New York: Free shipping will help spare you some of the sticker shock at this luxury store, known for its designer offerings.
Bergdorf Goodman: Given its swanky Fifth Avenue storefront, you can expect the retailer’s online presence to be just as upmarket, selling a plethora of designer goods.
Neiman Marcus: Well-known for its extravagant Christmas catalogue, this luxury department store also offers free shipping and returns.
Billabong: A surfer shop known for for its swimwear and wetsuits, Billabong also offers free shipping and returns on all orders.
Bonobos: This retailer offers a wide selection of dapper formal and casual menswear, with free shipping and free returns.
Cents of Style: Cute yet affordable T-shirts, shoes and colorful accessories.
Chicwish: Test out a new trend with one of this shop’s affordable women’s “fast fashion” pieces.
