Low-fare WOW Air is selling some of the cheapest flights to Europe we've ever seen right now, with one-way tickets from the U.S. to Iceland starting at only $69.99. Flights onward to mainland Europe, including destinations like London, Amsterdam, Dublin, and Stockholm, are also steals—from just $89.99 each way.

WOW Air introduced its newest sale on Tuesday, good for travel now through April 24. Prices to Reykjavik, Iceland, from U.S. airports such as Boston, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and San Francisco are just $69.99, including all taxes and mandatory fees.

Mind you, that's the sale price for the flight to Europe; return flight prices are slightly higher from what we've seen. Even so, the round-trip prices are phenomenally cheap. For example, in our searches, the cheapest price for a round trip from Pittsburgh to Reykjavik, Iceland, was a total of $163.

Likewise, while one-way flights to European destinations other than Iceland were available for $89.99, the prices of return flights from Europe were higher. The total cost of a round trip between San Francisco and Dublin, for example, came to $260.

Here are some of the deals available right now from WOW Air. Note that in some cases, you must sign up with the airline's free MyWOW program and agree to receive promotional emails in order to book the lowest-priced flights.

FLIGHTS FROM $69.99 ONE-WAY

• Baltimore to Reykjavik
• Boston to Reykjavik
• Chicago to Reykjavik
• Pittsburgh to Reykjavik
• San Francisco to Reykjavik

FLIGHTS FROM $89.99 ONE-WAY

• Baltimore to Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Dublin, Frankfurt, or London
• Boston to Amsterdam, Brussels, Copenhagen, Dublin, Edinburgh, Frankfurt, London, or Stockholm
• Chicago to Brussels, Copenhagen, Edinburgh, Frankfurt, or Stockholm
• Pittsburgh to Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Dublin, Edinburgh, or London
• Newark to Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Dublin, Edinburgh, Frankfurt, or Stockholm
• San Francisco to Amsterdam, Brussels, Copenhagen, Dublin, Frankfurt, or London

Before booking, bear in mind that WOW Air is based in Iceland, and that all transatlantic flights involve a layover and change of planes in Reykjavik. Also, as you might expect, the tradeoff for ultra-cheap flights to Europe is that WOW Air charges a wide variety of fees for anything beyond basic transportation—so expect extra charges for things like seat reservations, checked or carryon baggage, in-plane food and beverages, and such.

If you aren't up for travel to Europe right now, consider that the middle of winter is the low season for travel almost everywhere. So it's a peak period for flight deals—as we've seen with airfare sales popping up all over the U.S. and even the Florida and the Caribbean lately.
