Most people have a long weekend this week thanks to a federal holiday called Presidents' Day.

This year, Presidents' Day — which is also the day we celebrate Washington's birthday — falls on Monday, Feb. 19.

What's open on President's Day? And what's closed? For the most part, schools are closed on Presidents' Day, and many workers have the day off as an official company holiday as well. On the other hand, nearly all restaurants and stores are open on Presidents' Day—to accommodate all those customers who want to go shopping to take advantage of Presidents' Day sales or go out to eat on the holiday.

Here are all the details on everything else that's open and closed on Presidents' Day 2018.

Is the post office open on Presidents' Day?

No. Monday, Feb, 19, 2018, is a postal holiday. Post offices will be closed in observation of George Washington's birthday, and mail will not be delivered.

Are banks open or closed on Presidents' Day?

Most banks are closed on federal holidays, including Presidents' Day. We've been able to confirm that branch locations for major banks like Wells Fargo, Chase, HSBC, and People's United are indeed closed on Monday, Feb. 19.

There are a few exceptions, however. For example, TD Bank is actually open on three federal holidays each year: Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, and (yep) Presidents' Day.

Even if your bank is closed on Presidents' Day, most branches have ATM services available 24/7, and yes, they remain open even on holidays.

Is the stock market open on Presidents' Day?

No. The New York Stock Exchange, Nasdaq, and other markets are closed on Monday, Feb. 19.

Are government offices open or closed on Presidents' Day?

Monday is a federal holiday, so you can expect that all non-essential local and federal government offices are closed.

What stores have big Presidents' Day sales?

Virtually all stores are open on Presidents' Day, and most are hosting big sales. Retailers like Macy's, Kohl's, Target, and Walmart have great deals on appliances, home goods, clothing, jewelry, electronics, and more.
