Arizona State University-Tempe

Tempe, AZwww.asu.edu/
With five campuses in the Phoenix area, a thriving online program, and more than 500,000 alumni, Arizona State University is known for innovation. The school works to blur the boundaries that traditionally separate academic disciplines in search of a more integrated style of learning and accomplishment, and it's often included in round-ups of schools that are starting inventive programs that lead to a slightly higher-than-normal graduation rate. It offers more than 350 undergraduate academic programs, 250 study-abroad options in over 65 countries, and some 1,500 student organizations. Popular majors include business, social sciences, communications, and biological sciences. The Arizona State Sun Devils compete in the NCAA Division I Pac-12 Conference, where they are particularly admired for their skill in baseball, and students frequent the expanded fitness complex to pursue informal athletics. Graduate students study at the W. P. Carey School of Business, the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, and the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering. One of the oldest campus traditions, the Lantern Walk, involves hiking "A" Mountain, a slope near campus with a letter A on the side, while holding a lantern. The event occurs annually on the Friday before homecoming.
