Northeastern University

Northeastern University emphasizes work experience and experiential learning, with about 90% of undergraduates completing at least one cooperative education internship -- called a co-op -- during their college years. Students integrate classroom experience with periods of full-time employment with various startups, nongovernmental organizations, and research institutions. Both undergraduate and graduate students pursue research, with many presenting projects at the annual Research, Innovation and Scholarship Expo. Northeastern offers more than 175 majors, with programs in game development, landscape architecture, and more. The graduation rate is 87%, but don't let that high number fool you -- students enjoy themselves, too. Northeastern's Huskies compete in the NCAA Division I Colonial Athletic Conference. The school also boasts more than 300 clubs, including an Indonesian Student Association, a craft club, and a student-run record label. Northeastern students also enjoy easy access to Boston, where the school has its own stop on the subway system known as the T. Upon graduation, students in the early stages of their career earn $61,200, according to PayScale.
