St. Thomas Aquinas College

Sparkill, NYwww.stac.edu
Founded in 1952, St. Thomas Aquinas is home to about 2,200 undergrads. Students at the private liberal arts school, located 15 miles north of New York City, are required to take a broad foundation of liberal arts courses to learn skills like information literacy, written and oral communication, and problem solving and critical analysis. STAC also offers five cooperative programs with nearby colleges, allowing students to earn dual degrees in fields such as engineering and physical therapy. STAC prides itself on connecting students with mentors and keeping people on track for graduation. The college is popular with commuters, but there are still plenty of campus events and activities. STAC has more than 40 clubs, including one championing random acts of kindness. Many of the students are on one of the school's 20 Division II sports teams. Annual campus-wide events include Oktoberfest and Springfest, which feature a variety of carnival activities on campus. And, of course, students are located near Manhattan, which means it's easy for them to head down for concerts, Broadway shows, internship opportunities, and more off-campus fun.
