Villanova University

Villanova, PAwww.villanova.edu
The only Augustinian Catholic university in the country is located outside of Philadelphia; Villanova enjoys a solid academic reputation, especially when it comes to business majors. Undergrads report that professors tend to be enthusiastic and accessible, taking the time to get to know their students. Villanova students have been known to call their school "Vanillanova" due to a perceived lack of racial and ethnic diversity and abundance of preppy attire. It's worth noting, however, that while many 'Nova students do dress up to go to class, you can usually find a fair number in sweats as well. Villanova has a relatively high graduation rate, and grads report salaries that outpace the national average. One of the biggest events on campus, a basketball kickoff party called Hoops Mania, used to invite musical guests like Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Wiz Khalifa; now the focus is placed on the sport itself and the Wildcats that will compete during the year. Make sure you catch a Villanova men's basketball game: In recent years, they have won March Madness, the NCAA men's basketball tournament. On campus, students can be found congregating in the Connelly Center, St. Mary's Hall, and outdoors at the Oreo (an abstract black-and-white sculpture on the quad). Restaurants and bars in the area are also popular, and Philadelphia's attractions are just a short train ride away.
