C. Clyde Jones

Age: 91
Hometown: Manhattan
Cause: Financial education

Jones has given so much to his community that he’s got an annual race and luncheon named after him. “I joke that if it can’t be a building," he says, "these are next best.” Jones spent 26 years at Kansas State University, where he was the first dean of KSU's business school as well as a career counselor for athletes. “If they’re cut after a couple of years and they haven’t done some career planning,” he says, “they’re lost.” In 2001 Jones began volunteering at Shepherd’s Crossing, an ecumenical ministry that offers budget and employment counseling and financial support.
