Springdale, Arkansas

Deep in the Ozark Mountains is Arkansas's fourth largest city, Springdale. Located a short drive away from three state parks, and the Buffalo National River, there is plenty of outdoor opportunity for hiking and fishing enthusiasts. And it's bike-friendly, too — the best part of the Razorback Greenway runs through the historic downtown district. The median home price in 2018 was $181,614, well below the national average, and the unemployment rate in the county was a low 2.6% as of 2018.

The city's comprehensive Master Trail Plan will provide trail access to and from neighborhoods, schools, businesses, and the downtown area. Sports fans can visit Arvest Ballpark and cheer on the Northwest Arkansas Naturals. Springdale is also home to the Rodeo of the Ozarks, which hosts carnivals, championship rodeo events, and a demolition derby.

Downtown Springdale offers local boutique shopping, weekly farmers' markets, and Ozark-style comfort food. Community is a major priority, too. An annual event that completely takes over is the city-wide Street Dinner organized for the public. Neighbors gather together to eat side-by-side at a long white tablecloth-covered picnic table, and enjoy watching live entertainment. — Chloe Wilt
