Try subletting your apartment (if you happen to live in one) when you travel. This is a great way to save some money and keep your plants alive. O'Connell also suggests making lunch the biggest meal of the day. Lunch prices at restaurants tend to be cheaper, and with the sightseeing after the meal, you can walk off a few of those calories.
