High school students who are applying to college and hoping to play a sport at the college level need to remember that colleges consider more than skill level. Grades and other extracurricular activities are important to have on your transcripts as well. High school students need to be their own advocate and seek out the NCAA and coaches so that all parties know that student intends to play at the college level.
