Ahead of Presidents' Day sales, Amazon lowered the minimum for free shipping from $49 to $35 over the weekend. Same goes for orders including $25 or more of eligible books.

The news comes three weeks after Walmart announced free two-day shipping on millions of items for sale on its website, leading some to wonder whether online retail giant Amazon is "feeling the pressure" from other major retailers with lower free shipping requirements, Fortune reports. Fortune noted that Amazon's minimum shipping rate has fluctuated in recent years "as Amazon continues to nudge consumers to subscribing to its Prime subscription service."
