Trine University

Trine University has evolved a lot since its 1884 founding as Tri-State Normal College. The private university now has a golf course, a football team, a concert hall, an ice arena, and a 4,000-person student body that loves to learn. Trine's six schools offer dozens of majors, among them criminal justice, golf management and plastics engineering technology. But it's not all about fancy facilities and academics. The 450-acre campus in Indiana has a small-school feel, though students stay busy by hanging out in residence halls that the school boasts "feel more like a vacation resort than a dorm" and drinking frappuccinos from The Bean Counter. There are tons of organizations for students to choose from, including a bass fishing club, a club bowling team and a waterfowl group called Ducks Unlimited. Campus culture is tight-knit and familiar; professors often go out of their way to help students succeed. And it works: the school says 99% of the class of 2019 was in the workforce or grad school within six months of leaving Trine.

FALL 2020 PLAN: In addition to changing its academic calendar so the semester ends at Thanksgiving, Trine is requiring everyone to wear face coverings in public spaces on campus this fall.
