Credit card companies offer products tailored to frequent flyers, business owners and retail customers, but did you know a handful of [credit cards](https://money.com/best-credit-cards/) are marketed toward pet owners?

As competition among issuers heats up, companies are looking for fresh ways to land your business, and the high costs of pet supplies and vet services are an ongoing pain point for consumers.

A [free credit card](https://money.com/best-no-annual-fee-credit-cards/) from Nibbles has been gaining some buzz on Reddit. The card includes insurance for one pet, with a coverage limit of up to $20,000.

In a [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/CreditCards/comments/1w2onn6/nibbles_pet_credit_card_whats_the_catch/) made on Sunday, one user researched the card and asked if the offer is as good as it sounds.

"This seems like a great card for someone with a lot of pets, or someone who runs a rescue/shelter. In fact, \[it\] might be a good card for the free pet insurance alone. Am I missing something?" the user asked.

"Free pet insurance is insane. Normally this is $50-$150/mo. The deductible makes it borderline unusable, but if your pet needs surgery this could save you thousands, especially in a HCOL \[high cost-of-living\] area," one user wrote.

The $950 annual deductible is on the high end for [pet insurance](https://money.com/best-pet-insurance/), but not out of the ordinary. Points can be redeemed for statement credit at a 1:1 value. The card's APR is currently 24.49%. Commenters also recommended confirming that a pet is eligible for the insurance before applying for the card, as age and other restrictions apply.

Here are several other credit cards that offer perks for pet people.

*Note: All of the credit cards mentioned in this article have no annual fee.*

## Other pet-focused credit cards

Money's credit card team is often wary of store credit cards, which tend to have above-average APRs. With so many credit cards in the marketplace, choosing one that mainly offers perks at a single retailer is usually the wrong option.

Tractor Supply Co., a chain retail store that serves farmers and rural communities, offers one of the most recommended credit cards for pet owners. The Tractor Supply Co. credit card offers 5% rewards at the store, where customers can access in-store vet services for their pets, pay for pet prescriptions and shop for pet food and supplies.

Card spending also earns 3% rewards on outside veterinary services as well as gas and groceries. These rewards are redeemable as discounts on future Tractor Supply Co. purchases. The card's last disclosed APRs were 25.66% or higher as of Dec. 16, 2025.

Other credit cards advertised toward pet owners include the CareCredit Rewards Mastercard and two Petco credit cards issued by Comenity.

The CareCredit Rewards Mastercard can be used at in-network vets and pet stores to earn 4 points per $1, redeemable for statement credit. An FAQ page lists an APR of 32.99% (dated May 30, 2024).

The Petco Pay Credit Card has an even higher APR of 35.99%, and the card works only at Petco, where it earns 10 Petco Perks points per $1 spent, on top of 10 points that non-cardholders get back. In total, that adds up to 2% back.

The Petco Pay Mastercard Credit Card earns similar rewards, but you can also use the card at other stores to earn Petco Perks points (20 points per $1 at grocery stores and 10 points per $1 at other stores.)

## Access vet telehealth via American Express and Walmart+

A Walmart+ membership includes free online pet care through Pawp, a veterinary telehealth service. The retailer describes the perk as "24/7 access to veterinary experts from your phone." The Walmart+ membership includes the "standard" level Pawp membership, and additional charges apply for add-on services.

American Express customers with the Blue Cash Everyday card can earn $49 in a statement credit reimbursement on the purchase of a $98 annual Walmart+ membership.

The Blue Cash Everyday card also offers 3% rewards in the online retail category. This no-annual-fee card could be a smart move if you shop for pet food online with a company like Chewy.

## Maximize pet store points with a custom cash credit card

Two popular types of rewards credit cards are rotating category credit cards and customizable cash back credit cards. Rotating cash-back cards announce category bonuses each quarter, allowing cardholders to earn rewards multipliers on that spending.

Pet stores are occasionally selected as a bonus category. The Chase Freedom Flex, for example, offered 5% cash back at pet stores in late 2024. Other categories of stores that sell pet food — grocery stores, online retailers and warehouse clubs — show up in quarterly bonus lists, too.

Don't want to wait around for a bonus? Pet owners may be better off with a custom cash card. The Wells Fargo Attune, for example, lets customers earn unlimited 4% cash rewards in a category of their choice, such as "sports, recreation and entertainment." That covers pet care, even though the category name doesn't quite indicate it.

## Consider a good grocery credit card

Pet owners who mainly shop for pet food at grocery stores don't need to bother with a pet credit card. Money's list of the [best credit cards for groceries](https://money.com/best-credit-cards-for-groceries/) highlights options like the Capital One Savor Rewards card, which earns 3% back at grocery stores.

## Pay for vet bills with a catch-all 2% card

The typical vet bill is nearly $400, and there aren't many credit cards offering rewards on this specific category of spending.

A credit card with 2% [cash back](https://money.com/best-cash-back-credit-cards/) on everything, like the Wells Fargo Active Cash Card, can help take some of the sting out of vet visits.
