The best place to eat one of America's most iconic foods is in the Garden State.

[According to The Daily Meal,](https://www.thedailymeal.com/eat/america-s-best-hot-dogs) the list is created by looking at online reviews from locals, the restaurant's overall reputation and the quality of ingredients.

Rutt's Hut has been serving deep-fried hot dogs since 1928, [according to NBC.](http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/new-jersey-new-york-connecticut-rutts-hut-clifton-best-hot-dogs-435201733.html?_osource=SocialFlowFB_NYBrand)

"Even if Rutt’s Hut, located in blue-collar Clifton, served their trademark Ripper — a pork-and-beef Thumann’s link that’s deep-fried in beef fat until it rips apart — out of the back of a minivan, it would still be the country’s most delicious hot dog," The Daily Meal reports.

Coney Island Lunch in Scranton, Pa., [Katz's Deli](https://time.com/4140758/instagram-food-restaurants/) in New York City, Superdawg in Chicago and Lafayette Coney Island in Detroit rounded out the top five of the Daily Meal's list.
