Allen Maldonado — actor, writer, director, and entrepreneur — set out to help kids from lower-class families in Los Angeles. How did he accomplish this? With “Demo Nerds.”

“Demo Nerds” is a summer camp founded by Maldonado. It teaches at-risk teens how to act, direct, and produce their own short films. At the end of the program, Maldonado gives the young stars their very own red carpet treatment.

After attending the four-year program, it is not uncommon for “campers” to have gone to college. This is a dream that many of them didn’t think was possible.
