From new insurance plans to a discontinued service, the changes this year could be significant for some Costco members. ## Costco changes in 2026 Here’s a recap of some updates Costco made in 2026 that you may have missed. ### 1\. First Medicare Advantage plans Costco launched Medicare Advantage plans in 17 California counties and two Nevada counties. The small rollout was launched on Oct. 1 with SCAN Health Plan, with the plans starting on Jan. 1, 2027. No Costco membership is necessary to get one of these plans. ### 2\. Costco Next shut down Costco Next was a marketplace of third-party products that sold products at exclusive discounts for members. The program was launched in 2017 but quietly shut down this year. The website now lists contact information for partner vendors with active return policies. ### 3\. Coke fully replaced Pepsi at food courts Costco’s food courts completed the full switch from Pepsi to Coca-Cola beverages in 2026. The pivot started in 2025 when Costco brought in Coke beverages in conjunction with Pepsi drinks, which it previously had in its food courts for more than a decade. The hot dog and soda combo is still just $1.50. ### 4\. Twisted Churros returned Costco brought back its Twisted Churros snack to its food courts this October for a limited time. It marks the dessert’s first appearance in Costco after a two-year hiatus during which shoppers could instead buy a chocolate chip cookie at the food court. ### 5\. The $1.50 hot dog and soda combo and $4.99 rotisserie chicken have maintained their affordable price points. Costco’s membership fee stayed the same this year, and it’s still known as a leading warehouse company with affordable prices on a wide range of goods. While much of Costco’s offerings stayed the same, knowing some of the changes can help you capitalize on new perks and look for alternatives to discontinued services.
