Everybody should know that it’s unwise to go the grocery store when you’re hungry because you’ll buy twice the amount of food you need. You’ll probably buy things that’ll later seem foolish and random as well.

According to Racked, a somewhat similar phenomenon occurs when online shopping is mixed with alcohol in the wee hours of the weekend.

Crunching data from Lyst, an e-commerce site, the study found that people place 48% more on orders at 2 a.m. on a Friday night compared to a Monday. While there’s no way of verifying whether people still awake so late on Friday nights are actually tipsy, the magnitude of the shopping decisions certainly suggests there’s something going on.

Friday nights are especially good for lingerie sales. The average order placed at night apparently shoots up over 140% percent, from a pedestrian $126 to a massive $308.

Dress sales go up 320% on Fridays compared to Mondays, and the number of shoe sales is approximately double on Fridays versus Mondays. And it’s not just any shoes we’re talking about: People are much willing to “treat” themselves to the shoes they’ve been pining for, since the average price of heels is 165% higher on Friday evenings than their school-night equivalents.

So if you’re the kind of person who used to call yourself a Miranda or a Samantha—no one calls themselves a Charlotte—you might be right. But always: According to the data, everyone’s a Carrie Bradshaw in the wee hours of the weekend.
