Labor Day weekend is upon us—and that means cookouts, yard cleanups, and home improvement projects galore. Luckily, the big weekend also comes with plenty of sales to help on all fronts.
Home Depot and Lowe’s have both announced big Labor Day weekend sales, with deals lasting through September 6—and in some cases, prices are valid all the way through September 13. Shipping is free for many orders too. Here are some of the deals that jumped out at us.
Both home improvement retailers are selling basic mulch in red, black, or brown for just $2 a bag, a 30-40% savings. Home Depot’s cheapest mulch is sold under the Vigoro brand, while Lowe’s sells a house label called “Premium” mulch.
Charcoal & Grills
What’s Labor Day Weekend without a cookout? A two-pack of Kingsford charcoal is on sale for $9.88 at Lowe’s, or more than 50% off. Meanwhile, all Weber grills are being discounted by $50 at Home Depot, and select smokers and grills are 20% off at Lowe’s. Just bear in mind that if you wait past Labor Day, prices are likely to drop much cheaper.
Speaking of end-of-season clearance sales, patio furniture is being discounted up to 75% at Lowe’s right now.
Home Depot is offering rebates for $10 off one-gallon cans of paint and $40 off 5-gallon buckets of Behr’s paints and stains through September 6. Lowe’s is also offering $10 to $40 off select paints, stains, and resurfacers.
Both retailers are promoting sales of up to 40% off appliances, like this Samsung stainless steel refrigerator, on sale for $997 at Home Depot, which is 40% off the list price of $1,664. Sometimes the discounts are even bigger: Lowe’s has a black stainless steel Samsung refrigerator on sale for $1,099, or 50% off the list price of $2,199, plus there’s a $50 rebate available.
It’s mums season! Garden mums are priced at 5 for $5 at Lowe’s, and one-quart hardy mums are 4 for $5 at Home Depot. Don’t try ordering them online though: Both deals are in-store offers only.
