Burger King

Burger King is trying to bring in customers by bringing back an old, cheesy favorite: Cheesy Tots.

The snack is a bite-sized combination of warm potatoes with melted cheese inside and a crispy exterior. The popular side—which was discontinued in 2009 and returned briefly in 2013—will be available for a limited time on Burger King's lunch and dinner menus, according to Business Insider. It comes with a recommended price tag of $1.99 for an eight-piece order.

The snack is back by popular demand from Burger King customers, who have been begging the chain for years to revive the cheesy snack.

"Fans have been craving the return of Cheesy Tots for some time now," Burger King North America President Alex Macedo told Business Insider. "So we wanted to give loyalists a holiday surprise after we heard so many of their requests."

Cheesy Tots are the latest in Burger King's lineup of cheese-related items, which includes Cheetos Chicken Fries, Mac N' Cheetos and mac and cheese bites. The unconventional snacks are an effort to boost sluggish sales and compete with rivals like McDonald's and Carl Jr's, which also have their own weird menu items.
