Using a bank online can be more convenient and can sometimes save you money.

But is using an online bank safe?

For the most part, the answer is yes. But it’s up to users to take extra steps to make sure their accounts are secure.

That includes enacting two-factor authentication on devices so it would take more than someone using your password to enter another person’s accounts. Additionally, users should not use free WiFi to log into and check their accounts.

Another tip: check to see if the online bank has a FDIC seal. That will ensure up to $250,000 is protected if the bank goes under.

And finally, this may seem obvious, but delete any suspicious emails from the banking asking to change the password. Those emails are often scams.
