Sponsored by the Mennonite Brethren Church, this roughly 3,000-student private university draws students from all over California.
The school is a Hispanic Serving Institution, meaning at least 25% of the student body identifies as Hispanic or Latino. As FPU proudly points out, Hispanic and first-generation students there graduate at the same rate as other students. The school also has a unique two-year graduation guarantee for community college students who transfer to the school to complete their bachelor's degrees.
FPU offers over 100 areas of study, with the most popular undergraduate majors being business administration, early childhood development, social work and liberal arts studies. The vast majority of undergraduate students receive financial aid, and the median student loan balance is significantly lower than the national average.
On campus, FPU students also flock to sports: The Sunbirds have 17 Division II teams that have won a total of 15 national titles.
