Located on the Nevada-California border, Reno, a.k.a. "The Biggest Little City in the World," is a perfect spot for nature- and nightlife-lovers alike. Only 22 miles from Lake Tahoe, there are endless opportunities to explore the iconic lake via kayak, boat, paddleboard, or jet ski. You can also head out to hike miles of trails in the Tahoe National Forest.

The nightlife in Reno is comparable to Las Vegas, despite the city's significantly smaller size. With casinos, breweries, music venues, and more, there's no shortage of opportunities for a good time. But residents in Reno know it's not all fun and games, as there is a wide variety of industries booming in northwest Nevada; manufacturing has been the leading industry over the past five years. Job growth in the county increased by 25.3% between 2010 and 2018, and is expected to rise still further — another 10.6% — by 2023.

The Reno Arts & Culture Commission keeps the city looking colorful and vibrant with rotating art installations featuring local artists. A walk through downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods shows off more than 100 murals, sculptures, wind mobiles, and decorated street signs and bike racks. — Chloe Wilt
