Tourists pull off the highway to visit the historic Springville Museum of Art and its collection of American and Russian paintings. But residents know that Springfield's appeal goes beyond its creative heritage.
About 10 minutes from Provo, this town of 31,000 boasts a new family park with beaches and a pond for fishing. The historic town center is thriving. Families are drawn to the downtown water park for summer fun. And the town is small enough to retain a neighborly feeling.
However, the secret is out on Springville: the town has grown by more than 10,000 residents since 2000. Families move here for the new developments and nearby job opportunities including Provo-based Brigham Young University and Convergys in Orem. The area is known for tech companies and the nutraceutical dietary supplement businesses.
Springville celebrates itself each year through Art City Days, an annual community party attracting thousands downtown for everything from a baby photo contest to a battle of the bands. This year marked the event’s 50th anniversary.—Julia Lyon
