Tied for number 306 on Money's list of Best Colleges of 2016 is Northeastern University, an international research hub located in the heart of Boston. A distinctive feature of the Northeastern undergraduate education is the school's cooperative education program, in which students intersperse classroom learning with six-month periods of full-time employment with a range of different organizations: Fortune 500 companies, global non-governmental organizations, startups, research institutions, healthcare organizations, or government agencies..

About 90% of undergraduates complete at least one co-op education internship during their college years, and 72% participate in two or more. According to Northeastern, half of graduates get at least one job offer from an organization at which they worked for their co-op.
