Amazon Alexa Can Now Pay Your Credit Card Bill

Amazon Alexa, the voice-command service that works with devices like the Amazon Echo, allows users to stream music, buy new cashmere socks à la Alec Baldwin in their ads, and even order a pizza, all by just saying a few words out loud. Naturally, Amazon has just taken the next logically step, and now it'll help you pay off all those purchases.

Amazon and Capitol One have teamed up to allow Capitol One cardholders access to all their financial information through the voice inside Amazon's Echo speaker, Fire TV, Amazon Tap and Echo Dot devices.

Just ask and Alexa will check your Capitol One credit card balance. She'll tell you how much you've got stored away in your checking and savings accounts, if you're worried about affording that credit card bill. (It's a simple as phrasing a request like this: "Alexa, ask Capital One for my Quicksilver Card balance.”)

She can also review recent credit card transactions, let you know when the bill is due, and even take care of the payment, if you say: "Alexa, ask Capital One to pay my credit card bill.”

Of course, Capital One won't be the one footing the bill, as that lovely phrase suggests. Instead you'll have to link funds, like a savings or checking account, to your card ahead of time to actually make the payment.
