Harvey Mudd College

Harvey Mudd College is a small, private school with renowned science and engineering programs.

The school is highly selective, accepting about 12% of applicants. But, for students who get in, the experience is rewarding. The overwhelming majority of students live on campus, and the school is highly-rated for its dining programs, making it a good choice for foodies.

Harvey Mudd offers a “liberal-arts approach to STEM education” and its core curriculum includes a healthy dose of humanities and social science courses. Students can devise their own individual programs of study and enroll in any classes offered by the other undergraduate Claremont Colleges: Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, Pomona and Scripps.

Roughly 92% of students graduate within six years, and the median salary for graduates a few years into their careers is a whopping $137,100 — more than double the national median.

Harvey Mudd College partners with Claremont McKenna and Scripps to compete in Division III sports like football, basketball and soccer. And when they’re not in the lab or on the field, students with an artistic flair can join the school's choral ensembles, its improv group (known as DUCK) or take part in battle tie-dye (a real thing).
