3. Los Angeles: Looking to date a movie star? Not likely to happen. But in Los Angeles, taking a date to the movies is easy, given that the City of Angels has more theaters within 30 miles than most any place else in the country.

You might move to a city for a better job or a fresh start, but what about moving for a livelier—and wealthier—dating scene?

Money crunched the numbers and ranked the best cities in the country for single people who just so happen to make a lot of money. Naturally, we looked at those cities where the median income was highest overall. We then took those well-heeled places and searched for the ones where the percentage of single people was above the national average of 40%. And because single people need places to mingle (and co-mingle) we also give extra weight to those cities with a large variety of dating spots, from bars and restaurants to sports arenas, theaters, and museums.

10. Raleigh: Maybe it's all the bankers in town—the median household income in Raleigh is more than $57,000. If you're looking to Impress your date there, check out the North Carolina Museum of Art or one of the other four museums in the Raleigh area.

9. Austin: Median household income in Austin has gone up by almost 20% in the last five years. And you you'll find plenty of date-worthy concerts in the "Live Music Capital of the World."and single.

8. Denver: The Internet has renamed Denver "Menver," insisting that ladies and gents looking for single men have better dating prospects in this Coloradan town due to its disproportionately male population.

7. Minneapolis: In January, Minneapolis hosted a dating-extravaganza, in which 100 single men were set up with 100 single women in a series of 14 different events. Of course there were plenty of takers. Minneapolis ranks No. 4 in the percentage of singles in town.

6. Atlanta: Are you a sports fan? Dating in this Georgia city is probably a home run, with a rich collection of old and new sports venues, such as the country's oldest on-campus NCAA Division I football stadium (at Georgia Tech) and the new Mercedes Benz Stadium set to open in for football and soccer 2017.

5. Seattle: Seattle’s dive bars may be in danger of extinction, yet somehow there’s no shortage of more date-appropriate cocktail spots in the West Coast city. There are 816 bars within 15 miles of Seattle.

4. Boston: Bostonians looking for love, you’re in luck. Bean Town is 56% “single.” Even better, the median household income is almost $59,000, about $2,500 more than in NYC.

2. Washington, D.C.: Two reasons it's great to be rich and single in Washington. The median household income is just over $72,000 and admission to all those date-friendly museums is free.

1. New York City: If you’ve got a traditional dating style—say, grabbing your date for dinner and a movie—you’ll have seemingly endless options in the Big Apple. Here, you’ll find the most restaurants and the most movie theaters within 15 miles among every other city in the country. And the median household income tops $56,000.
