Today kicks off the 2016 edition of the National Spelling Bee. Over the next two days, kids from across the country will gather in Baltimore to pull off astounding feats of orthography. (Hard-core dictionary fans can watch Thursday night's finals live on ESPN.)
Inspired by the presence of a bee champion in our very own midst—Money reporter Kerry Close, 2006 winner (word: Ursprache)—we decided to hold our own office competition. Turns out that without spell-check, personal finance journalists actually have a difficult time with the terms we use every day.
