This College Teaches Performing Artists How Not to Starve
Coming in at number 60 on Money's list of Best Colleges of 2016 is University of North Carolina School of the Arts, the nation's first state-supported arts conservatory. Located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, UNCSA offers five different courses of study: dance, design and production, drama, filmmaking, and music. The school provide a high-quality arts education (alumni, who often return to UNCSA to teach, include Paul Tazewell, who won a Tony award for costume design for Hamilton). And the school provides that education at a relatively low price: The one-year cost of attendance for in-state students receiving financial aid amounts to $17,200, Money estimates.
