A couple of weeks ago, a Facebook friend of mine with Tea Party-ish leanings posted an outraged note about the Obama administration's plans to slap Americans with a Value Added Tax, or VAT. Turns out former Fed chairman—and now Obama economic adviser—Paul Volcker said that a VAT would be worth considering to tackle to deficit.
