Spring Hill, TN
Spring Hill

Top 50 rank: 45

Population: 30,568

Just 30 miles outside Nashville and site of a Civil War battle, Spring Hill is home to a diverse community of professionals, blue-collar workers, and retirees. The town's General Motors plant, idled from 2009 to 2011 after the carmaker's bankruptcy, employs about 1,900 people.

Thanks to strong schools and affordable homes, the town has seen rapid population growth over the past decade. Yet Spring Hill still has plenty of undeveloped areas, including three large parks. --K.F.
