These Retailers Will Be Closed on Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is just one month away, and dozens of retailers are forgoing opening stores earlier and earlier as they have in past years.

While Thanksgiving and Black Friday sales have become (sometimes dangerous) traditions in the U.S., the outdoor retailer REI just announced it will be closed on Black Friday for the second year in a row. So far, the only other store that's announced it will be closed the day after Turkey Day is fellow activity brand Outdoor Research.

But Thanksgiving itself is another matter. While Macy's announced certain locations will be open as early as 5 p.m. on the holiday (seriously, have you even had your third helping yet?), a slew of other stores have announced they will remain closed, giving employees the day off to spend with their families and shoppers a reprieve from the Black Friday-esque madness.

Aside from Macy's, retailers that will be open include JCPenney, and Kmart.
