It's the most wonderful time of the year to be a Best Buy shopper.

For the second consecutive year, the electronics store will do away with its usual $35 minimum order requirement for shoppers to receive free shipping. The deal started Monday and will last through Dec. 24.

The decision comes as the retailer hopes to attract customers during the competitive holiday season, and also hopes to compete with online giant Amazon, whose Prime service offers free two-day shipping regardless of order size.

Shipping costs are among online shoppers' biggest complaints. A recent survey from Accenture found that shipping costs are considered the largest deterrent from buying items online.

Though Best Buy is the first major retailer to eliminate shipping costs this holiday season, other online stores are expected to follow in Best Buy's footsteps. Black Friday deal-tracking website BFAds reported last week that Target -- as it did last year -- will offer free shipping with no minimum order requirement, starting Oct. 30. The company declined to comment on the rumor.
