3 Ways to Haggle at Your Favorite Stores
Shopping expert Lisa Lee Freeman says that despite what you may think, haggling isn't just for flea markets or garage sales; you can also negotiate the price of something you are about to buy in a retail store. Just try asking the salesperson—nicely— if there's any way he can help you out. Offer to pay in cash, especially if you are shopping at a privately owned store where a credit card fee might hurt the owner's bottom line. And if you're buying more than one of something, ask for a volume discount. The worst thing that can happen, Freeman says, is that they turn you down.
