If your child is begging for a Hatchimal this holiday season, you better act fast.

Before Black Friday has even arrived, the egg toys that hatch into furry creatures with names like Owlicorns and Bearakeets are already selling out across the globe, according to the Hatchimals website. Spin Master, the company that makes them, said it's already shipped out its first batch, and while it will restock shelves at retail stores in November, it anticipates the additional products quickly selling out.

"This is a special season and we don't want anyone to be disappointed," Spin Master said in a statement.

The toys—which generally sell for about $50—are also flying off the shelves at major retailers like Toys R US. "As soon as people knew it was here, the moment we started putting it on the shelf, people started taking it off the shelf," David Raposa, co-manager at a Walmart in Robinson, Pennsylvania, told Pittsburgh-based KDKA-TV.

As of Friday morning, Hatchimals had also sold out online at Toys R Us and Target, while Walmart had just a few of each of the toy's five "species" left in stock. Amazon has a page devoted to third-party sellers with Hatchimals available.

The good news is that if you strike out this holiday season, your kid won't be without a Hatchimal forever. Spin Master said it's increased production and will launch another new batch of toys in early 2017. The company noted that some retailers are working on pre-sale or rain-check programs that shoppers can redeem in January. You can check the Hatchimals website for details on these programs as they become available.
