A taxi driver in Boston came to the rescue for a very lucky unnamed man, returning nearly $200,000 in cash after it was left in the back of a cab.

“The cab driver looked in the backpack to look for ID, found the money and brought it straight over to HQ,” a Boston police spokesperson said. “It seems this guy has come into his inheritance and left it in the cab.”

Police said they were able to confirm that the roughly $187,000 in cash did indeed belong to the man who claimed it. By law cab drivers are required to turn over forgotten property to police in Boston.

“He had proof that it was his, he had the trust agreement, he provided the proof the money was his,” the police spokesperson said. “Thank goodness for the honest cab driver.”
