A mansion in France has [sold](http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-12-15/paris-chateau-said-to-be-world-s-priciest-home-at-301-million) for the world’s highest-ever price tag of more than $301 million (275 million Euros), [Bloomberg reports](http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-12-15/paris-chateau-said-to-be-world-s-priciest-home-at-301-million).

The Chateau Louis XIV sits in a 56-acre park outside Paris between Versailles and Marly-le-Roi, Bloomberg reports. The home—if you can call it that—took three years to build and includes an aquarium, cinema, a wine cellar and an outdoor fountain covered in gold leaf.

“With elegantly planted parterres, a gleaming gold-leafed fountain, an infinite array of flowers, marble statues, bridle paths and a hedged labyrinth, the property’s park and gardens evoke the genius of Le Notre, ” Cogemad, the luxury builder that constructed the site says on its website, a reference the famed gardener of King Louis XIV of France.

The chateau’s price—paid by an anonymous “Middle Eastern buyer” according to sources quoted by Bloomberg—is a significant jump over the previous record holding home price, $221 million paid in 2011 for a London penthouse, and well above the most expensive home in the United States, the so-called [Palais Royale](https://money.com/le-palais-royal-most-expensive-house-america/), a Florida McMansion modeled on Versailles.
