Cinch Home Services Comparison
Here’s how Cinch Home Services compares to other home warranty companies in the industry.
Cinch Home Services vs. First American Home Warranty
First American Home Warranty plans cover a combination of appliances and home systems at a competitive price. The company offers three tiered plans: Starter Plan, Essential Plan and Premium Plan.
The lower-tiered plan covers three major systems — electrical, plumbing and heating — and key kitchen appliances like dishwasher, refrigerator and cooktops. The Essential Plan adds coverage for laundry appliances, water heaters and air conditioning. The Premium Plan includes all covered appliances and systems, and offers higher coverage limits.
While comprehensive, there are some items that First American doesn’t cover but that you can find in a Cinch’s home warranty plan, such as coverage for doorbell systems, built-in food centers and freestanding ice makers.
Additionally, FIrst American offers higher coverage caps for appliances than Cinch, especially for customers with a Premium Plan, which covers up to $7,000 for kitchen and laundry appliances. Most home systems repairs, though, are capped at $1,500, compared to Cinch’s typical maximum of between $1,000 and $1,500 depending on the system.
A major drawback is that First American is available in fewer states than Cinch Home Services — First American covers 35 states, while Cinch is available in 47. However, First American may be worth considering if available in your area.

Cinch vs. Choice Home Warranty
Choice Home Warranty offers affordable plans and coverage for most major home systems and appliances.
Unlike Cinch Home Services, Choice doesn’t feature appliance-only or system-only plans, instead it offers two plans that cover a combination of both. The main difference between Choice’s Basic Plan and its Total Plan is that the latter includes coverage for air conditioning systems and laundry appliances.
However, when compared, Cinch’s plans include coverage for several items that Choice doesn’t cover, such as freestanding ice makers, doorbell systems, built-in food centers, wall ovens, smoke detectors and instant water dispensers.
Although available in more states and charges a fixed service call fee, Choice Home Warranty isn’t currently accredited by the BBB and has C rating, which is lower than Cinch’s B rating.
Additionally, as of this writing, Choice Home Warranty also has a pending government action filed by the Arizona Attorney General which alleges the company was making false promises to customers. The company is also the subject of multiple complaints related to unauthorized transactions after customers cancel their plans, according to the company’s profile in BBB.
