2-10 Home Buyers Warranty comparison
Here’s how 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty compares to two major competitors.
2-10 Home Buyers Warranty vs. American Home Shield
Although American Home Shield (AHS) offers similar coverage to 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty, American Home Shield stands out for its higher coverage limits.
For instance, American Home Shield’s plans cover up to $5,000 for HVAC systems and up to $2,000 for appliances. In addition, its premium plan, Shield Platinum, bumps the coverage for appliances up to $4,000. On the other hand, 2-10 HBW covers up to $2,000 for HVAC systems and between $500 to $2,000 for appliances.
Note that 2-10 HBW lets you increase your HVAC coverage limit to a maximum of $5,000 through the Luxury Package, but you have to pay an additional monthly fee.
AHS also offers optional coverage for electronics, such as laptops, TVs and game consoles, which 2-10 doesn’t offer. However, AHS plans are relatively more expensive and have higher service fees than 2-10 HBW.

2-10 Home Buyers Warranty vs. Choice Home Warranty
Choice Home Warranty offers two affordable home warranty plans that cover a combination of home systems and appliances, and charges a standard service call fee of $85. The main difference between Choice’s two plans is that its Total Plan includes coverage for air conditioning systems and laundry appliances, whereas the Basic Plan doesn’t.
Choice Home Warranty offers a higher coverage limit than 2-10 HBW for the access, repair or replacement of covered items — up to $3,000 compared to 2-10 HBW’s $2,000 for most systems. However, Choice Home Warranty isn’t accredited by the BBB and its C rating is much lower than 2-10 HBW’s A rating.
Additionally, Choice Home Warranty has a pending government action filed by the Arizona Attorney General for making alleged false promises to customers. The company’s BBB profile also has multiple customer complaints regarding unauthorized transactions after canceling a plan.
