University of Evansville

This private university, affiliated with the Methodist church, boasts that its broad liberal arts curriculum can prepare students for any career path. After all, its mission is "to empower each student to think critically, act bravely, serve responsibly, and live meaningfully in a changing world." Though UE offers a wide variety of programs in subjects like actuarial science, athletic training, and creative writing, its classes are small and taught by faculty (not graduate students). UE's main campus is 75 acres in Indiana, but it also oversees a location in Grantham, England, called Harlaxton College, which is located at a Downton Abbey-like manor. Students who choose to spend time there can explore British studies and make connections with nearby community members. UE also has study abroad programs in Finland, Japan, Argentina, and other countries. When they’re not studying, students can take part in more than 120 student organizations, among them a bass fishing club, a group for male nurses and a clay club (check out its annual chili bowl sale!). University of Evansville students also love cheering on the Purple Aces; teams compete in Division I athletics. About 25% of students participate in a very active Greek community.
