Beloit College

Beloit, Wis., home to both the famed “cheese breeze” and the world’s largest can of chili, also boasts Wisconsin’s oldest college. Located about 90 miles northwest of Chicago and an hour south of Milwaukee, Beloit is built on river bluffs and surrounded by Native American mounds. Students participate in more than 60 student clubs and organizations, six fraternities and sororities, and 19 athletic teams in the Division III Midwest Conference. Despite the school’s heart-of-the-Midwest location, Beloit has an international flavor, with some 100 study abroad programs available in 60 countries. Every year, students share cultural experiences through an event called International Symposium -- past breakout sessions have included "Surviving Australia: Educationally, Emotionally, and Financially" and "The Future of Green Tourism in Northern Japan." There's also an annual production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show around Halloween; any student can audition to join the show. If the stage isn't quite your style, consider contributing to Pocket Lint, an art and literature magazine that comes out each spring.
CORONAVIRUS UPDATE
FALL 2020 PLAN: Beloit is adopting a modular approach this fall -- rather than taking four courses over a semester, students will take two classes over two seven-week terms. All meetings and events have to follow physical distancing rules.
